Tanner and Tyler recall the happy, the sad, and the beautiful moments in their life
By Marty Hsu
Tanner Mata described his childhood with twin Tyler as “mabuti” and “mas madali” as they didn’t have problems. When they reached the age of 13, however, things took an unexpected turn for them.
“When I was 13 years old, my family kinda got separated and I got to know a couple of new families that got introduced in my life,” Tanner shared during his “Magandang Buhay” interview today, March 16.
Tanner and Tyler then finally met their biological father Lyndon and were also introduced to a new stepfather, Bob.
Their mom Julie couldn’t help but tear up on the show as she recalled that time in their lives. She said, “It was very hard for my boys when they were… They were raised by a stepfather [and] when they were 13 [years old], he left and never spoke to them again. And so it was very hard [that] the dad they only had to disappear on them.”

Julie continued, “And their stepfather, Bob, has become a huge part of their lives and really made them who they are today.”
Aside from gaining new family members, the beauty that Tanner finds from it all is the fact that he’s always had Tyler on his side. “He was there for everything pretty much,” he said.
Tyler feels the same for his “opposite” and “other half.”
“He’s a great brother. He’s my other half. He’s there for me whenever I need him just like I am for him. He’s the opposite of me,” Tyler shared about Tanner.
Tyler, in a VTR message, also expressed how proud he is of Tanner for being the 5th Big Placer in “Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7.”
“I’m proud of him, I can’t believe he made as far as he did. I knew he would for sure, thought he could make it a bit farther but it’s amazing, it’s awesome that he went through all that and got to experience what he did,” he said. “He really pushed through. I’m proud of you, man. I’m really glad you didn’t quit.”
Then Tanner responded to his brother saying, “Seriously bro, it’s the hardest thing to do to not be able to talk to you, figure out what’s going on with you, hang out with you…”
He added, “Thank you so much for being there, man. I miss you bro and I hope to see you soon. I really do.”
